After Lille’s victory over Nantes, Christophe Galtier gave his feelings about the meeting and was proud of his players who managed to get nine points out of nine in three games.
“Very happy, very happy. This is the third game of the week, second consecutive trip. We had seen the results of the competitors and we had to win. If we want to stay at the top of the table, we will have to win many, many more games. I liked the way the team behaved in the first half, although I regret that we were slow to come and score this second goal. The victory is a relief. In the first half, we played well, we had good situations. In the second half, it was much more difficult because Nantes reacted. We had situations that we had difficulty in bringing about. There was a minute when a while Benjamin was saving on the line, Mike made a stop. We could have revived this Nantes team which is in a very difficult period. I would have really moaned if, given the physiognomy of the match, we would not have taken the three points tonight.
“In the areas of truth, more determination is needed”
We have very favorable situations where we miss a few times of accuracy and a few times of grinta. Sometimes they’re too much into the game. Football is a game and I want them to keep that. But in areas of truth, more determination is needed.
It’s a wonderful three-game week with two trips and nine points won. All coaches dream of having this kind of week. We are on a good dynamic, a good series, but the competitors too. Everyone has to win. Which adds not to the pressure, but to the excitement. Because to stay up there, we have no right to the slightest relaxation. This is what I ask the players: not to give hope to the opponents. And tonight, on that side, we lacked a little maturity. “
