The University Council of the University of Music Würzburg has re-elected Prof. Christoph Wünsch as President. His second, six-year term begins on October 1, 2021, according to the music college in a press release. The appointment is made by the Bavarian State Minister for Science and Art, Mr Bernd Sibler.
Prof. Wünsch has been President since October 2017. During his first term of office, important developments were initiated, for example a cooperation with the Mainfrankentheater was launched and the center for musical excellence in Würzburg was founded together with the Matthias Grünewald grammar school.
Regarding his election, Christoph Wünsch says: “I am very pleased to be able to continue shaping this great university over the next six years and to advance developments that have already started.”
Christoph Wünsch is a composer, pianist and, since 2001, professor of music theory at the University of Music Würzburg, where he also heads the Studio for New Music.
