Christoph-Rupert Schneider is the new chairman of the Würzburg-Land district association of the Bavarian Teachers’ Association (BLLV). At the most recent meeting of the district association, the headmaster of the Estenfeld primary school was elected to succeed Stephan Debes, who handed over the office to younger hands after 27 years. The following information is taken from a press release by the BLLV Würzburg-Land.
Stephan Debes was honored by the chairman of the Lower Franconian Teachers’ Association (ULLV), Helmut Schmid, on his farewell as the long-standing chairman of the BLLV in the district of Würzburg. Debes had been committed to the BLLV for decades at both the district and Lower Franconian level and had made important contributions. He had previously worked for several years as district manager of the young teacher organization ABJ and the ULLV before succeeding Christa Wagner as chairman of the Würzburg-Land district association in 1996. From 1998 to 2020 he also acted as chairman of the local staff council for the interests of teachers at primary and secondary schools in the district of Würzburg.
There have also been positive developments
In his statement of accounts during the meeting, Debes looked back on his term of office and mentioned events such as the discussion about the “Bildungspfennig”, the failed referendum for better school reform in 2000 and the “Rotstift” campaign, with which the BLLV protested against the additional burden on teachers in 2006. He also emphasized positive developments that he would not have thought possible 15 years ago, such as the introduction of a general promotion office for teachers at primary and secondary schools in 2009 and the upcoming increase in the starting salary to level A 13 for these teachers.
He also mentioned that the number of members in the BLLV district association in Würzburg-Land remained stable. There are 530 members. In the last staff council elections in June 2021, the BLLV received 86.5 percent of the votes in the local staff council in Würzburg-Land and thus received all eleven seats.
In the subsequent elections, Christoph-Rupert Schneider was unanimously elected first chairman.
The other election results are: The 2nd chairman is Thomas Cimander (Höchberg, at the same time consultant for employment law and salary), cashier: Kerstin Schobert (Waldbüttelbrunn, at the same time representative of the specialist teachers for nutrition and design), management: Bärbel Panzner (Höchberg) and Daniel Soldaczuk (Waldbüttelbrunn), professional science: Linda Lorenscheit (Rimpar), assessors: Katharina Knecht (Rimpar), Julia Lermig (Reichenberg) and Pe ggy Seeburg (Theilheim), media and IT: Stephan Debes (Zell a. Main). Michaela May (Würzburg) was elected as the representative of the pensioners, Bettina Weis (Waldbüttelbrunn) represents the administrative employees in the BLLV, and Verena Bilgeri the specialist teacher for technology.
