Can Austria hope for another player in the German Bundesliga soon?
As the “Rheinische Post” claims to have learned, defender Christoph Klarer would be in the sights of Mainz 05.
Karim Onisiwo and Marlon Mustapha’s club are looking for a new centre-back and Klarer is said to be a serious candidate.
The compensation is between two and three million euros.
Trained at Rapid and Southampton
Klarer started 13 times this year for Düsseldorf and was used 15 times in total. The 22-year-old also contributed an assist on goal.
Lower Austria was trained in Rapid’s youth academy and then ventured to England to join Southampton’s academy. After a six-month loan deal at SKN St. Pölten in 2020, Düsseldorf secured the former U21 international in October of the same year.
