The mass tests are over and Christmas is just around the corner. In order to be able to spend the holidays with the family without worries, the City of Vienna has several free test stations ready.
VIENNA. If you want to be tested for Covid-19 in Vienna before the holidays to make sure you are healthy, you can do so for free at the following locations in the city.
Test road at the Austria Center Vienna
In the test street at the Austria Center Vienna (1220, Bruno-Kreisky-Platz), everyone who lives or works in Vienna can now be tested free of charge. With or without symptoms – the test road is available to everyone.
Anyone with symptoms or restricted mobility can drive their car through four test roads in the underground car park. You have to register online in advance on the City of Vienna website. There are three pedestrian test roads available for people without symptoms. You can travel there by public transport (U1 – Kaisermühlen station). A Online registration is necessary in advanceto avoid long waiting times for the quick test.
The test is carried out using a rapid antigen test (nasal swab). Then you get a test result within 15 minutes. If the result is negative, you will receive a written confirmation on site and an additional notification by SMS. If the result is positive, you will be isolated and medical staff will also perform a PCR test.
All information about the test road at the Austria Center is available here.
Test road on the Danube Island
The focus of the tests in the test street on the Danube Island near the Floridsdorfer Bridge is on people who have mild symptoms.
You can either drive through the test road or – if you have no symptoms – walk through it. The gurgle test is used for testing. In addition, rapid tests are being used on a trial basis in the test street on the Danube Island, with which one receives a test result within 15 minutes – but only for some of the suspected cases that have only recently had symptoms. The test road is open Monday through Sunday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. You can register directly on site or in advance fill in the registration form online.
You can find more information about the test road on the Danube Island here.
Test road at the Ernst Happel Stadium
In the test street near the Ernst-Happel-Stadion (1020, Meiereistraße 7), people without symptoms can be tested. These are, for example, those returning from travel without symptoms from non-risk countries according to the current federal Covid entry regulations or people who have returned to Vienna from the federal states.
But also contact persons of those who have tested positive, who have no symptoms and want to be on the safe side, are welcome here. If you are contact person 1 (K1), you have to drive to the test street and should make sure that no test has been requested at home. But even if you are nearby and want to have a test done to be on the safe side, you will definitely not be sent away. You can register online or register on site.
