Christmas: what movies can you see in theaters – Cinema and TV – Culture

The premiere of Spider-Man: no homecoming is the first and most anticipated of the titles that hit theaters for Christmas, a good time to regain the habit of going to the movies with a very varied offer: the new West Side Story, the animation of Sing 2 and the return Keanu Reeves as Neo in the fourth Matrix.

With many surprises that will delight fans, the latest installment of the arachnid superhero takes up what happened in Spider-Man: Far From Home (Spider-Man: Far from Home) with a Spider-Man (Tom Holland) turned into a villain in the eyes of the public. Many characters from other Marvel films appear, with a special role of the charismatic Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), and it is a story aimed at teenagers with the multiverse as a backdrop.

The Matrix Resurrections, Neo’s long-awaited return, is the fourth installment in the science fiction saga with Keanu Reeves (in the role of Neo) who remembers nothing of his cybernetic and existential adventures with one foot in the Matrix and the other in reality. A film that insists on themes such as the search for truth and takes up emblems of the saga such as the choice of the pill. It has been 22 years since the first installment of the series, although it does not seem that Reeves has passed the years.

Sing 2 is a big comeback. After the fantastic first part, comes a new installment of these funny and tender artists, who make up a great band of music lovers. Although it seemed difficult, Sing 2 surpasses Sing in spectacularity, technique and musical themes with the incorporation in the soundtrack of Bono or Halsey.

With West Side Story (Love without barriers, as it was released in Spanish), Spielberg recovers a classic. The best way to celebrate 50 years of one of the world’s leading filmmakers, West Side Story, is to re-see history but passed through the eyes of Steven Spielberg, who has fulfilled a long-cherished dream with this remake. His most important decision has been to have a completely Latino cast – led by Colombian-born actress Rachel Zegler – and not to subtitle the parts of the dialogue that take place in Spanish. At the moment, four nominations for the Golden Globes endorse it.

With The King’s Man, Fun is assured. It’s a prequel to the previous two hilarious installments, spy movie parodies with brilliant Colin Firth and Taron Egerton leading the cast. Now the British director Matthew Vaughn moves to the early twentieth century to tell the origins of that surreal spy organization and has a great cast: Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode or Djimon Hounsou.

And for lovers of Colombian comedies, it returns The walk with its sixth part, this time, in an unforgettable 11th grade excursion trip to the island of San Andrés and with the protagonist of Amparo Grisales.

Chichila Navia and Jhon Álex Toro are also part of the cast of this crazy story produced by Dago García and directed by Rodrigo Triana.
