The Christmas season is heralding in New York City: the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center has arrived. A low loader transported the 24 meter high and several tons heavy spruce to its location on Saturday. More than 50,000 colored lamps will be attached, which will then shine for the first time on December 1st. At the top of the tree is a 400 kilo star with 70 points, which is studded with three million crystals.
The Christmas season can begin
The Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center has been the symbol of New York’s Christmas season for 80 years. This time he came from the US state of Maryland for the first time. It had stood on the property of the Price family from Elkton for about 85 years. Devon and Julie Price told NBC that they were recently worried that the spruce could topple over in a storm. “So we’re excited to have her come to New York City,” said Devon Price.
Erik Pauze, head gardener at Rockefeller Center, discovered this year’s tree while driving through the Elkton area in March, as he told the Baltimore Sun.
