Baden-Baden – Mariah Carey has now made it into the German single charts for the 100th week with her Christmas hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and has climbed steeply from number 61 to number 19, as the chart investigators in Baden-Baden announced. This makes the song second among the “fastest climbers” – after another Christmas hit. “Last Christmas” by the band Wham! lands at number 20.
A well-known song is also in first place in the singles charts: Linkin Park with “The Emptiness Machine” is at the top for the tenth week in a row. Close behind, German pop singer Nina Chuba comes in second with her song “Fata Morgana”. The rapper Jazeek follows with “Ma Baby”.
The Cure stays at the top of the album charts
For the second week in a row, the British rock band The Cure remains at number one in the German album charts. The group hasn’t topped the hit list for almost five decades. “But now the cult band is really turning it up a notch again,” said GfK Entertainment. “Songs Of A Lost World” is the band frontman Robert Smith’s first studio album in 16 years.
The album by pop star Helene Fischer, who presents “The Most Beautiful Children’s Songs”, rises from third to second place. In third place is “Safe Space” by the artist Kayef, who is making a new entry into the charts with his album.
