Christmas markets open – Antenne Münster

All in all six Christmas markets open on Monday (November 22nd) in the city.

  • in the courtyard of the town hall
  • on the Lambertikirchplatz
  • around the Kiepenkerl
  • in front of the Überwasserkirche
  • in the Aegidiimarkt
  • and – brand new – on the cherry pillar on Harsewinkelplatz

It starts at 11 a.m. on Monday morning. A more airy placement of the booths with larger distances and the 2G rulewhich applies to all visitors. Means: Everyone has to be vaccinated or recovered.

says Wolfgang Heuer, head of the crisis team. The current corona situation is being observed, and short-term adjustments to the security regulations are possible, according to the city of Münster.

The new market – X-MS Christmas market

The Christmas market on Harsewinkelplatz right next to the “cherry pillar” sculpture is a market from Münster for Münster. The entire range – from handicrafts to gastronomic delicacies – is local, regional, sustainable and creative. A real Münster market for everyone.

The official opening

The Christmas markets will officially open on Monday afternoon from 4.30 p.m. on Lambertikirchplatz in front of the large fir tree. As the tradition has it, the “six cylinders” sing songs from their cult musical “Schweinachtsmann” at the start. Then Mayor Markus Lewe will switch on the lights on the Lambertitanne.

These are the opening times:

  • Sunday to Thursday: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Fridays and Saturdays: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Christmas market around the town hall, the Christmas village on the Kiepenkerl, the Aegidii Christmas market and the X-MS market are all great until Thursday, December 23rdto visit. The markets on the church squares (Lichtermarkt St. Lamberti and Giebelhüüskesmarkt at the Überwasserkirche) close on Wednesday, December 22nd.

“Christmas Guides”: Happy to help

To make it easier for guests in the city to find their way around, Münster Marketing is once again sending a team of “Christmas Guides”: six helpers are out and about on all four Saturdays in Advent from 11 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. at particularly busy locations in the city. You can find them on Windthorststraße, the coach parking lot on Schlossplatz and on all six Christmas markets. The “Christmas guides” can be recognized by their yellow info vest and red info-i. In addition, they carry a large shoulder bag on which a large information i is also displayed – combined with the request: “Happy to help”.

The Advent Pocket Plan published by Münster Marketing also helps when strolling through the markets. With an integrated city map, it makes it easier to find your way around the city, shows the locations of the six Christmas markets with their special features and provides information about the offers of the churches, cultural institutions and city tours. It is available free of charge at Münster Information, Heinrich-Brüning-Straße 7, and at the tourist information in the historic town hall, Prinzipalmarkt 10.
