Many Christmas markets are opening their doors this week to the delight of visitors. When do they open? With what rules? Which program ? We take stock.
Saarbrücken Christmas market opens on November 24
Last Friday, the decision was made to postpone its opening. Ultimately, this postponement will only be two days. The Christmas market will therefore open this Wednesday but with stricter health rules. Wearing a mask will be compulsory everywhere and only vaccinated people will be able to access the food stands and will therefore be able to drink mulled wine.
Note that the Saarlouis Christmas market also starts this Wednesday. That of Hombourg is canceled.
Health pass for dining in Strasbourg
A few days before the inauguration, new rules have just been introduced in Strasbourg. The health pass will finally be requested in the catering areas. A decision that was taken when the incidence rate now exceeds 200 in the Bas-Rhin. A figure that has almost doubled in 1 week.
The Christmas market will be inaugurated this Friday, November 26. Like every year, the launch of the illuminations is an event. This time, it is the tenor Amaury Vassili who will sing for the occasion. He will present his album “We love Christmas” to the public. No big stage. The singer will first perform near the cathedral and then at Place Kléber.
Health pass in Kaysersberg
It is one of the most popular Christmas markets in Alsace: the Kaysersberg market will have a health pass this year. “Guaranteeing your safety and that of our exhibitors is our priority,” explains the Tourist Office in a press release. The municipality of Kaysersberg is therefore the first in Alsace to decide to introduce the health pass in its market. Checks will be carried out at the entrance. The event will take place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday starting November 26.
Health pass: not everywhere in Sarreguemines
The Christmas market in the city of Sarreguemines will be inaugurated on Saturday November 27 at 4 p.m. Lots of activities are on the program this year. In addition to the chalets, there will be an ice rink, a Saint-Nicolas parade, and shows.
With regard to sanitary restrictions: wearing a mask will be compulsory on the entire perimeter of the Christmas market, the sanitary pass will be required for the ice rink (+ 12 years old), the Macadam Theater (+ 12 years old) and the catering areas.
The Carré Louvain and Moulin car parks will be free for 2 hours from November 27 to December 31.
Metz health pass
The Metz Christmas market was inaugurated on Friday, November 19. On the program for this market: 150 chalets spread over 5 squares, a big wheel, not to mention the Sentier des Lanternes, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Around 2,000 lanterns light up Square Boufflers from November 26 until December 30.
The health pass is compulsory in the different parts of the market, as is the wearing of a mask.
No pass (for the moment) in Forbach
In Forbach, the Christmas market will begin on December 5 and last until the 23rd. This year, the municipality is increasing the number of activities. There will be 23 cabins in the city center, rides on Place Aristide Briand, new illuminations, a Saint-Nicolas parade and part of the lantern trail.
Regarding health rules, the mask will be compulsory. For the moment, the health pass is not requested except for the cinema.
Colmar: Health pass to the gourmet market
The Colmar market is one of the most visited in the region with 1.2 million visitors (excluding the Covid period). The organizers have decided not to introduce a health pass to access it. However, the pass is required at the entrance to the gourmet market where the catering chalets are located. The market and its 186 chalets will be inaugurated on November 26. Wearing a mask will be compulsory.
