Christmas will come already on October 30 this year in Burgas with the special pre-premiere screening of the latest Bulgarian feature film “take me home”.
The screening is part of the special program of “Cinelibre” in the seaside town. The event will allow Burgas audiences to see the world of fake stardom through the eyes of an underprivileged child a month before the film hits theaters across the country on November 22.
“Take Me Home” is the work of director Martin Genovski, an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Mihail Veshim. The masterpiece of one of the most beloved Bulgarian authors comes to life on the big screen, thanks to the director and teacher at NATFIZ Martin Genowskicameraman Tsvetan Nedkov and a number of stars, among them Asen Blatechki, Koina Ruseva, Kitodar Todorov, Anton Radichev, Albena Koleva, Petar Kalchev and Yana Marinova.
“Take Me Home” is the only Bulgarian full-length film that is part of the special selection of this year’s anniversary edition of the International Film and Literary Festival “Cinelibri“.
Director Martin Genovski and part of the star team will personally present the adaptation on October 30 at 7:00 p.m. in the Georgi Baev Hall, Morsko Casino. Tickets for the screening are on sale at the “Chasovnika” cash desk every day from Monday to Friday, and on the day of the pre-premiere the cash desk of “Sea Casino”.
The film is also special for another reason – a Bulgarian is the smallest actor in the selection of films from around the world at the “Cinelibri” festival. Alex Marinov was only 12 years old when he starred in the lead role in Take Me Home. He was chosen among hundreds of other children, going through five rounds of casting.
Little Alex is transformed into an orphan from a home for orphaned children, where father Zlati (in the role of Asen Blatechki) arrives – a famous person, showman and host of the TV show with sinking ratings “Golden Show”. In order to raise the popularity of the show again, Zlati takes the initiative “Take me home” and invites little Jan (Alex Marinov) to be his guest for Christmas. Thus, for a day, the child falls into the spotlight and learns firsthand about the false glamor of success.
“It’s not all lights, money, show, being famous, being in the spotlight, no. The important thing is to be happy”says Alex Marinov himself.
„In Bulgaria there are traditions in cinema with children and for children. It was a challenge and a huge responsibility for me to work on this film. Take Me Home is a different Christmas story. In the film we mix funny and sad, as it actually happens in life. I feel lucky to have had the chance to create a tape that is suitable for the whole family to watch. To tell a story that will excite both children and adults“, admits director Martin Genovski and adds: “We’ve assembled a great cast, and viewers will be able to see their favorite actors in a completely new, unexpected light“.
„The movie is of course different from the book and the book came out 10 years ago. I am excited to see the audience’s encounter with the film“, says the writer Mikhail Veshim.
