The Nova group’s Christmas program this year will feature the Czechoslovakian fairy tale Three Nuts for Cinderella and its new Norwegian remake Three Wishes for Cinderella. Ulice will bring a Christmas Eve special from the Kašperské mountains and New Year’s Eve will traditionally belong to a special edition of Televních noviny and entertainment. In addition, viewers can expect a varied selection of Czech cinema classics and foreign films.
For Christmas, Nova TV will offer a selection of the most popular Czech comedies and films. “On Christmas Eve we will offer the most classic of cinematic fairy tales – this year, in prime time, we will show the immortal Three Nuts for Cinderella with the legendary Libuša Šafránková. As part of the Christmas program, we will also offer a recent Norwegian remake of this one. Czechoslovakian “family silverware” called Three Wishes for Cinderella, “says Nova TV program director Silvia Majeská.
The legendary Cinderella with Libuša Šafránková in the main role premiered in cinemas on November 16, 1973. It soon became part of the Christmas holidays not only here, but also in Slovakia, Germany, Norway and other countries. The three nuts for Cinderella have been sold in more than 30 countries around the world. Norwegians have long been among the biggest fans of Czechoslovakian Cinderella.
Perhaps that is why the Czechoslovakian fairy tale received a remake from the Norwegian creators. The fairy tale Three Wishes for Cinderella, which TV Nova will air on December 20, was created in 2021. And although Norwegian critics were generally enthusiastic about the new version, they repeatedly claim that nothing compares to the Czechoslovakian model.
On TV Nova, you can also expect fairytale classics like Three Brothers, Řachanda, The Most Beautiful Puzzle, Mrázik, Prince Bajaja or How to Train Your Dragon. Also expect traditional Czech comedies Sun, hay …, Vesničko má středisková or S teb me baví svět or Krakonoš and skiers. And Heavenly Love is already a matter of course.
At Nova Cinema you can expect Christmas movies for the whole family, such as Jack Frost, The Christmas Elf, The Grinch, Santa’s Brother, Last Christmas, Four Christmases, The Polar Express and Christmas Vacation. You can also expect the Christmas schedule on other stations and on the Voyo portal.
The Ulice series, which this year has already entered its 18th season and is, together with Ordinací v rozá žádění 2, the longest-running series in the history of national television, this year will give a Christmas present to all its fan, or a special Christmas Eve Episode. Also this time there is a magical Christmas atmosphere on the audience, enriched by an almost fairytale story and a great adventure at Kašperk Castle.
“For several years, Ulice’s broadcast ended about a week before Christmas Day, so we couldn’t show what happens within our Ulice families, how our characters experience these special holidays,” says the creative producer of Ulice Silvia Klasová and concludes: “Fortunately, there was a solution in the form of a Christmas special that is broadcast on Christmas Day”.
The Advent season is also reflected in the Breakfast and Weekend Breakfast programs. The breakfast chefs will bake all kinds of Christmas cookies, but also show tips for edible gifts. Presenters and their guests will demonstrate how to make a beautiful Advent wreath, Advent calendar or Christmas postcards and decorations at home, as well as what are the trends in gift wrapping. There will also be the dining etiquette during the Christmas Eve party. Viewers can also expect themed live music performances throughout the month of December.
The last night of the year will traditionally feature a special edition of the most watched newscast throughout the year in the Czech Republic – Television News – on the screens of TV Nova. Again this year, viewers will see a selection of what went wrong. Unsuccessful shots of the popular Street and Office in the Rose Garden 2 series and many other surprises await them.
Another New Year’s premiere will be the funny program Your face has a familiar voice – A great New Year’s case, in which Ondřej Sokol, Aleš Háma and Martin Finger will try to solve the case of the century. Someone kidnaps Lucia Borhyová and the investigators will have barely a few hours to save her.
“I believe that thanks to TV Nova, viewers will experience the best last night of this year, which will bring tension as well as fun and laughter for the first time,” concludes the show’s creative producer, Simona Matásková.
