Christmas day ends foggy for northeastern Netherlands | inland

The KNMI issued code yellow for about half of the country on Sunday evening due to thick fog. It concerns the provinces of Gelderland, Overijssel, Drenthe, Groningen and Friesland. The warning also applies to the Wadden Islands.

According to the meteorological institute, visibility to the east and northeast can locally be less than 200 meters due to fog. The fog should clear during the night.

A lot of rain fell on Christmas Day. Rijkswaterstaat advised motorists to adjust their speed due to the rain and warned of hydroplaning. This usually happens when it has rained (a lot) for a long time and as a result there are puddles on the road.

We will also have to account for almost daily precipitation in the coming week. Sometimes these are downpours that can be regional, short-lived, and fierce. Sometimes it is the rainy areas that provide prolonged rainfall.
