Christina Aguilera brings a very glamorous energy to 2021. On Instagram, the singer posted a video of herself in the tub while enjoying a glass of champagne. Her post comes just over a week after celebrating her 40th birthday.
New Years Day on Friday, Aguilera posted a video of herself resting and relaxing in a luxurious bubble bath. The singer only donned a cowgirl hat for the clip, which she captioned with the champagne glasses clinking emoji. Throughout the video, she posed for the camera in a range of sultry movements, while sipping her champagne. In addition to posting the video, Aguilera also posted a “New Year, This Energy” slideshow on Instagram that included previews of a photoshoot she participated in.
Aguilera recently explained to PEOPLE, while promoting her appearance and performance in Amazon Prime Video’s Yearly Departed comedy special, that she was more than ready to leave 2020. She said if she had to do a eulogy for 2020, she would keep it simple by saying, “Get out with the old, get in the new”. She went on to explain: “[2020] was too much for everyone. Let’s go our separate ways, make peace and move on… I’m very excited to get rid of the old skins, to get away from the old ways. I think we all took a second and thought about what serves us [and] which is not so that we can move forward in our future and try to exceed 2020 on several levels. “
While 2020 has been a trying year for many, Aguilera was still able to enjoy one specific thing over the year: Stay at home orders allowed her to spend more time with her family. According to the “Genie in a Bottle” singer, she spent some much-needed “quality family time” with her partner, Matthew Rutler, their 6-year-old daughter, Summer, and her 12-year-old son, Max. (which she shares with her ex-husband Jason Bratman).
“I had been on the road for a year between Europe and Vegas, so it was good for me to take a break and a moment to reflect and take it all on a personal level as a mum, as a artist and being able to creatively dig and make positive changes for my future, ”she says. “I think we can all try to say this in our own personal situations in our lives.”
