Coach Christian Ilzer has extended his contract with Sturm Graz as well as his support staff until 2026. The soccer runner-up announced this on Wednesday evening during its general meeting. Managing director of sports Andreas Schicker said: “SK Sturm’s successes in recent years are also directly linked to Christian Ilzer and his entire coaching team.”
In this context, Schicker spoke of the “dedication, meticulousness, positive obsession and incredible motivation” of Ilzer and his colleagues. The coach himself said: “I see the contract extension of the entire coaching team as an appreciation and recognition of our daily work. Every day here is a great challenge, an incentive to continually develop myself personally and us as a team in order to get the best out of the club.”
Ilzer came to Sturm Graz from Vienna Austria in the summer of 2020 and has since been runner-up twice and ÖFB Cup winner with the Styrians. The “Blackys” are currently in the Conference League round of 16 and the Cup semi-finals, in the league the second-placed team is two points behind leaders Red Bull Salzburg.
