Christian Horner is still optimistic about his team’s title chances. The Brit sees the reliability problems with Red Bull Racingbut believes that nothing is lost.
Reigning World Champion Max Verstappen is still on the hunt for his second world title. Things are not going well in the first season that he has to defend his championship. For example, the Dutchman dropped out during the race in Bahrain with technical problems and in Australia the world champion also had to park his RB18 early. Meanwhile, the gap with the leader in the standings, Charles Leclercincreased to 46 points.

‘A lot of races to go’
The Red Bull team boss still has faith in the championship, he says at Motorsport Week† “We are only at ten percent of the championship, so we still have a lot of games to go,” he opens. The 48-year-old Horner also sees positive points in the RB18, as the car has good speed. However, the biggest flaw is reliability. The engine did not always run smoothly with AlphaTauri either. “We have to [problemen] understand and act quickly of course, because even on a day when we were not as fast as Ferrariwe were assured of second place,” he explains about the Grand Prix in Melbourne.
Solve problems quickly
In that hypothetical situation, the Austrian team is in good shape, according to Horner. “In the first few races, Max gave up 36 points and the team lost 50 points. If you look at that, both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships would look very different,” says Horner. Still, things don’t look rosy at the moment and the team boss knows that reliability needs to be worked on. “There is still a big percentage of the championship to go, but we need to solve these problems quickly,” he concludes.
