Christian Horner has been appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire, according to King Charles III’s New Year Honors List. The Red Bull Racing team boss says through his official channels that he feels very honored. The Brit already had the title as Officer, but was given a higher distinction due to the success of Red Bull.
In 2013, Horner was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire for his services to the premier class, after Red Bull managed to win both titles for the third consecutive year. This recognition entitled him to wear OBE after his name. With his recent appointment as Commander, a rank higher than Officer, he can now add the letters CBE after his name. The higher award comes after a remarkably successful Formula 1 season for the Austrian racing team.
‘Ten years ago I was unexpectedly awarded the title of OBE, and I am extremely grateful to now receive this second award. I feel honored,” the team boss said in a response on his official channels. “It is a great privilege to be the leader of such a fantastic team like Red Bull Racing, and to work in an industry that contributes so much to the British economy. I am very proud of what we have achieved with Red Bull in Formula 1, and in the broader sense of the high-tech world. I am very honored to be recognized for this.’
