Christian Estrosi backpedals on the return of the vaccine pass

Guest of the morning of CNews this Tuesday morning, the city councilor returned to the remarks he made the day before in the Metropolitan Council.

“No, no, I don’t have any information.” The mayor (Horizons) of Nice, Christian Estrosi, returned on Tuesday to the remarks he made the day before before the Council of the Nice Côte d’Azur metropolis.

On Monday, while detailing the measures taken in the face of the resurgence of the Covid-19 epidemic, the city councilor claimed to have information “according to which the vaccine pass could be reactivated from August 1st”.

Guest of the morning of CNews this Tuesday morning, Christian Estrosi clarified his speech on a possible return of the vaccine pass. “I listen to airline managers. (…) We can imagine that from the end of July, the beginning of August, for border crossings, there is a risk of being a request for a vaccination pass”.

Remarks different from those made the day before before the Council of the Nice Côte d’Azur metropolis. Questioned by Laurence Ferrari, the city councilor denied having information from the government concerning the implementation of the vaccination pass on August 1st. “Those who have deduced all this, naturally, are those who do not listen and do not analyze in detail the words that have meaning,” he added.

Epidemic rebound

France, like part of Europe, is currently affected by a seventh wave of the Covid-19 epidemic, due to subvariants of Omicron, BA.4 and BA.5. Nearly 50,000 new cases are detected every day, according to Santé Publique France.

And while the obligation was lifted last May, the Minister of Health, Brigitte Bourguignon, called on the French on Monday to wear the mask again in public transport, in order to deal with this new epidemic rebound. This remains a recommendation and not an obligation.
