The rules in Italy are strict: “Only when the defibrillator is removed and a specialist can show that Eriksen is physically well again can he play for Inter again,” said Francesco Braconaro, member of the scientific committee at the Italian Football Association ( FIGC), on the Italian radio station Kiss Kiss.
Eriksen is still under contract until 2024, but is therefore not allowed to play football with a defibrillator in the Italian league. Stricter rules apply there than in other European countries. In the Dutch Eredivisie, for example, Daley Blind does play with a defibrillator.
Christian Eriksen had a defibrillator implanted after he suffered a cardiac arrest at the European Championships in the group match against Finland. The playmaker had to be resuscitated.
At the beginning of this month, the new Inter coach Simone Inzaghi stated that he hopes for Eriksen’s return. “All he has to think about at the moment is rest,” Inzaghi said at his first press conference.
“I counted on him, but I realize he will need time. Once he is rested and returns to Inter, I will be waiting for him as a trainer with open arms.”
