Lahore: A Christian couple who insulted the Holy Quran in Pakistan was arrested on charges of blasphemy. Taimur, a native of Harbanspura, was arrested on a complaint. Taimur saw papers thrown from the roof of the house and upon examining it realized that it was from the Qur’an.
He then checked the roof of the house and found more pages of the Quran in a bag near the water tank. With this, the police was informed.
The police reached the spot and collected the pages and filed a blasphemy case against the woman and her husband for insulting the holy book. A case was registered under Section 295-B of the Pakistan Penal Code. SP Awais Shafiq said that the accused have been taken into custody and legal proceedings are in progress.
On August 16, mobs attacked churches and Christian homes in Jaranwala after pages of the Quran were found torn near the house of Christian brothers.
