Although the voter may not go to the polls until March, Segers thinks his party is in a comfortable position. He hopes to get seven seats in the upcoming elections (now five). “The left needs us. The right seeks our help ”, says the party leader. “Our influence is greater than the number of seats we have. Sooner or later we will be needed again in The Hague, either in the coalition, or for a role in the opposition, or for a majority in the Lower House or the Upper House. ”
Vaccination
The CU foreman praises Prime Minister Rutte, but he is critical of his VVD. “It is good to realize that Rutte is not only prime minister who does a fantastic job, but if you vote for Mark Rutte, about 35 liberals will be added,” says Segers.
The leader of the smallest government party says he can work well with them. “But those are also 35 liberals who hesitate about the care of creation. Who are sometimes not that liberal when it comes to a possible vaccination urge or even coercion. ”
Special education
Segers says he wants to oppose the scrapping of the reflection period for abortion and against making a euthanasia wish possible without medical reasons. The party also takes up a position on the discussion about special education. Segers: “We say no to the call for state education and we say yes to the freedom of education.”
The daughter of Gert-Jan Segers, singer Eline Segers, sang the song ‘Yahweh’ by U2 after the speech.
