25 december 2021 – Barcelona seems to win the battle of Andreas Christensen, who is transfer-free in the summer. That reports the Catalan newspaper Sport. The Catalans are said to have already reached an agreement in principle with the 25-year-old Chelsea centre-back.
Christensen can close the door of Stamford Bridge on a free transfer on July 1. However, the sound is that Barcelona is not yet going ahead, now that it knows that Matthijs de Ligt wants to leave Juventus. So sad for Christensen, who has reportedly been very enthusiastic in recent months about a possible switch from England to Camp Nou.
Barcelona now faces a choice: whether to bind the cheap Christensen, or go for De Ligt – which must cost at least fifty million euros. However, the Catalan top club runs the risk that Christensen does not want to wait for the club’s decision. The defender seems to have more options, including Bayern Munich and De Ligt’s current club: Juventus.

The sports newspaper claims that Barcelona has been in contact with Christensen for more than a year. The Dane was previously close to a loan period at the La Liga club, but it fell through at the last minute. The upcoming presidential elections would be the reason for that. De Ligt was also previously in the picture at Barcelona, but opted for an Italian adventure at Juventus in the summer of 2019.
