The incident that Smith and Rock starred in at the 94th edition of the Oscars continues to provoke controversial statements, as now the comedian’s brother assures that the actor is lying, since he has not sought out Chris to talk about the slap he gave him in the aforementioned gala.
According to NME magazine, Tony assured that the actor falsifies in the statements where he states that he has tried to communicate with the comedian to apologize for the controversial event.
“That was not true, that was not true. I think two nights later she said, ‘I reached out to Chris and he didn’t want to talk.’ That was not true,” Rock’s relative told BigBoyTV.
Tony, who appeared in Smith’s 2005 film Hitch, said he hoped to also receive an apology from the fellow film producer, because although he believes it is not necessary, he thought the artist would have the courtesy
“My phone number has never changed. So, I thought I’d get a phone call one day like, ‘Oh, let’s just talk you and me.’ It hasn’t happened, so I guess it’s not going to happen,” she highlighted.
As you may recall, at the 2022 ceremony, Smith stormed the stage and punched Rock after the comedian made a joke about Will’s wife, Jada.
After a series of apologies, addressed to Rock and the organizers, the interpreter resigned from the Academy. He was later banned from attending all Academy events for 10 years.
It was recently reported that Will has “tried unsuccessfully” to make amends with Chris since the incident, and People magazine reported that Smith has “felt terrible for so long” about this situation.
