The summer months are jam-packed with party days for our Swedish neighbours. On 6 June, National Day was celebrated, and just four days later the stage was set for Princess Madeleine’s birthday (41).
– The relationship between them is serious
This weekend, midsummer poles were raised and flower wreaths were made during the traditional midsummer celebration, and on July 14 – better known as Victoria Day – flags are flown all over Sweden when Crown Princess Victoria (45) turns 16.
On Tuesday 27 June, the Swedes can celebrate another birthday, but this birthday child will have to manage without a celebration and offFinally congratulations. The birthday boy in question is Chris O’Neill, prinsesse Madeleine’s husband. He turns 49 years old.

On the royal house’s Instagram account, public congratulations usually appear in connection with birthdays, but not when Chris has a birthday. There is also usually no public celebration of the financier.
According to Swedish Women’s Magazine the fresh 49-year-old will probably spend the day with his wife and their three children, Princess Leonore (9), Prince Nicolas (8) and Princess Adrienne (5).

The website further writes that the reason why Chris’ birthday goes so under the radar – at least in public – as it does, is probably something as simple as the fact that he does not have a royal title. Chris O’Neill is not a prince, even though he is married to the princess. Just as Ari Behn was not a prince when he was married to Princess Märtha (51).
The fact is that Chris is not considered part of the Swedish royal family either, which is revealed on the royal house’s website. The financier also has no royal duties.

Recently, Madeleine and Chris were able to celebrate ten years as spouses. Already when they married, the latter refused the royal title – a decision he also justified in a interview with Kings Magazine i 2018:
– I was not born into a royal family. I am Christopher O’Neill, my father was Paul O’Neill. He was a family man who had his own identity, worked hard and succeeded well at it, he said, elaborating:

– I considered it important to keep the same relationship with him as I have always had, first and foremost. After that, it was my choice not to take on any official assignments, and therefore my role in the context is very simple: I am there as a support for my wife. It is a task I tackle as Mr. Christopher O’Neill.
