Determining the type of foot can help you choose the right shoes and prevent possible diseases and discomfort when walking. There are three main types of feet:

Flat (flattened) foot – in this case, the foot does not have a pronounced arch in its architecture and rests on the entire surface of the sole.

Normal foot – this type of foot has a pronounced arch. It has natural stability and can support the weight of a person’s body.

High foot – here the arch is strongly pronounced, so the sole contacts the ground only behind and in front of the foot, creating a certain rate of body weight movement when walking.

You can find out your foot type in the following ways:

Look at the footprints your feet leave on surfaces, such as wet sand or paper. If the entire footprint touches the ground, then this indicates a flat foot. If a convex arch on the sole is visible, then this indicates a normal foot. If the mark is left only on the edges of the foot, then you have a high foot.

See an orthopedic doctor or surgeon. They can make a more detailed and accurate determination of the type of foot, taking into account other factors such as age, weight, the profile of your foot, etc.

Make footprints on paper. Apply a small amount of paint or chalk to the soles of your feet and step on white paper or other suitable surface. After that, examine the prints to determine the type of foot.
