Choosing Between Staying in Panajachel or Exploring the Villages around Lake Atitlán: A Traveler’s Dilemma

Hi people !

I am traveling for a year in Latin America, currently in Guatemala I will leave in 1 to 2 weeks for Lake Atitlán.

I am thinking of taking a hostel in Panajachel, and I was wondering if it was worth staying there and taking transport to visit the villages around the lake or if it would be better to move?
