Choose Wi-Fi or 4G? 4G Internet in Indonesia Proven Faster! – All Pages

Nextren.com – There are various reasons people become poor WiFi because they are always looking for WiFi internet when they are somewhere.

Maybe because we don’t have a data quota, but what we often hear is because we hope for faster internet,

Yes, mobile phone users often connect their devices to Wi-Fi networks available at home, work, or public places such as airports or cafes.

By using a Wi-Fi network, the use of cellular data quota can be saved.

However, in terms of speed, the average Wi-Fi network in Indonesia is not as fast as 4G LTE cellular internet connections.

This was revealed by a report from the mobile research institute OpenSignal.

From the research conducted by OpenSignal in the period July 1 – September 28, 2021, it was found that the average download speed of 4G services in Indonesia is 15.1 Mbps.

This figure is 25 percent higher than the average download speed via Wi-Fi networks in the country, both in public and private places such as offices and homes, which is 12 Mbps.

In addition, 4G in Indonesia is also said to be faster than the average download speed of Wi-Fi networks from MiFi devices, aka portable hotspots, with 6.8 Mbps, and 3G cellular internet which only reaches 4.9 Mbps.

The average 4G download speed in several regions in Indonesia in OpenSignal’s research was recorded to be higher than Wi-Fi networks.

However, the speed difference varies. In West Papua, for example, the average download speed of 4G is 58 percent faster than Wi-Fi networks.

Meanwhile, the average download speed of 4G is also 53 percent higher than Wi-Fi in Kalimantan, 51 percent in East Java, and 39 percent faster in Sulawesi.

Interestingly, the difference in 4G and Wi-Fi speeds in DKI Jakarta, Banten, and West Java is not too significant.

4G speeds in each province are only different percent, 6 percent, and 10 percent above Wi-Fi.

Meanwhile, the average 3G download speed in a number of large regions in Indonesia, of which there are 12 regions, is still much lower than the Wi-Fi speed, which is only around 4.2 – 6.5 Mbps.
