– Choose the right, Anette – Dagsavisen

According to tradition, it is not only King Harald who holds an annual New Year’s speech to the people. The band The Dogs, with artist, comedian and author Kristopher Schau on vocals, also gave a New Year’s speech tonight.

– Dear compatriots, old as well as new. 2022, the year of the omikronet is just around the corner, and it is once again time to reflect on the year that has passed. Was 2021 the new 1945, which we had all hoped for? In a sense yes, Schau opened this year’s New Year’s speech,

The sport won

He shared frustration over the press’ one-sided focus on sports in the past year. But the music also got some coverage, admitted.

– Of course the music also got some coverage. That Astrid S debuted on the big screen in Three Nuts for Cinderella, you unfortunately got with you. That Jodlebirger won Star Wars as well. It seems the press was funny. And not least that a politician also this year put on a carnival costume and sang karaoke in NRK’s attempt on Fragglene, Maskorama. It was his Minister of Culture, that, says Schau in his speech, and comments:

– For a dignified exit, Abid.

Choose right, Anette

Now the band is linking excitement to what 2022 will bring to the Norwegian music industry.

– We are excited about what aces our new Minister of Culture, Anette Trettebergstuen has up her sleeve to be able to top this. We’re just praying to the gods that she’s at least not on Tic-tok. We simply can not throw up any more now. Our tooth enamel does not tolerate it. And like I said, we’re not cross country girls. So choose right, Anette. Choose right.

In his speech, he could also announce that the long-standing tradition of releasing one album every first New Year’s Day has now been broken, because the printing time on vinyl records is eight months. Thus, they will sign blank vinyl albums on Big Dipper this day, and not finished printed copies of the upcoming album «El Verdugo».

– We chose to step outside our well-trodden paths and went to Halden to record our next album. Halden, the city where rehabilitation is a foreign word. Be it people, menus or buildings. Where drug elephants go to die and hamburger dressing is just another word for hand soap or cold cuts, says Schau.

The album was recorded on Athletic Sound, and produced by Swedish Chips K, and is expected in March 2022.

Greetings to Hertis

Also this year, Norwegian rock lost one of its own, great artists.

– Hans Erik Dybvik Husby, Hank von Hell passed away. Or Hertis as I used to call him. Most has already been said, but I would like to share a story with you From when Turboneger released Ass Cobra which I hope can be an inspiration for other bands out there. I was to interview the band for the radio program Kvegpels just before the album was released. By this time they had just finished playing their previous album “Never is forever”, and I asked Hertis how it had felt to play the last round of concerts with that record when the only song everyone in the hall was waiting for was “Armed and fairly well equipped »from the album for there again. Were they tired of it always having to be on the set? He just answered dryly and very correctly that “there are some pretty good new songs coming now”.

The Dogs also thanked Kåre Willoch, who also died this year, for his contribution to Norwegian rock and asked questions about whether Jonas Alaska has become Knut Schreiner, or whether the two have always been one and the same person.
