In the first quarter of 2022, Samsung released its newest Galaxy A Series, the A33 5G and A53 5G. Taking the mid-range phone niche, the features of these two phones are practically the same, although there are some differences.
For those who are still confused about choosing between the two, here are some of the differences and also the advantages of each cell phone that might be a recommendation in choosing a new smartphone.
Design
In terms of design, the two do not have a significant difference, because both are designed with designs that are more fashionable, functional, and sustainable. Both have also used Corning® Gorilla® Glass 5.
The difference between the A33 5G and the A53 5G lies in its dimensions, while the A53 5G has dimensions of 74.8 x 159.6 x 8.1 mm and weighs 189g. Meanwhile, the Galaxy A33 5G has dimensions of 74.0 x 159.7 x 8.1 mm and weighs 186g.
From here, it can be seen that the A33 5G has a lighter and more compact design, while if you want a bigger phone, the A53 5G can be the right choice.
Screen
Turning to the screen, these two phones are both equipped with a Super AMOLED screen. Both also carry technology that is able to make the device’s screen remain clearly visible even in the sun.
The difference is, for the A33 5G Samsung provides a 6.4-inch FHD + screen with a refresh rate of up to 90 Hz. The display is also equipped with Infinity-U technology. While his brother is equipped with a wider screen, namely 6.5 inches FHD + with a refresh rate of 120hz.
Camera
Like the initial concept, these two products were deliberately designed by Samsung to help millennials and Gen Z to capture various moments through cameras with top-notch quality.
Regarding the camera, Samsung has planted 4 cameras on these two phones plus 1 camera on the front. Samsung has also embedded various beautiful features in the A33 5G and A53 5G cameras such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and also the night mode feature for perfect night photos. Not to forget the Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) feature for shots without shaking.
For the difference, the Samsung A33 5G has a main camera configuration of 48 MP OIS, 8MP ultra wide camera, 2MP depth camera, and also a 5MP macro camera. On the front, there is a 13MP selfie camera.
His brother A53 5G is equipped with a 64MP main camera supported by VDIS technology, a 12 MP Ultra-Wide lens, a 5 MP depth camera and a 5 MP macro camera. For the face, the 32 MP camera is ready to provide quality selfie results.
Performance
In terms of performance, Samsung embeds the same innards on both of these phones, using the Exynos 1280. This chipset is considered capable of providing good enough performance to run the system on the A33 5G and A53 5G. Both can also be connected to the 5G network.
Both are also equipped with Octa-Core (2.4GHz, 2GHz). Meanwhile, from the OS side, both have adopted Android 12 and One UI 4.1.
The difference is quite visible in the RAM and ROM of these two phones. For the Galaxy A33 5G, you have a choice of 6/8GB RAM with 128/256 GB ROM. Different from his brother who has 8GB RAM with 128/256 GB ROM. Both can be added with a microSD up to 1 TB.

Price
One thing that can be taken into consideration is the price of these two phones. The A33 5G on the market is priced starting at Rp. 4,699,000 and for the A53 5G the price is a little more expensive, starting at Rp. 5,999,000.
Actually, the two do not have a significant difference, both have good performance with good design. But in terms of cameras and screens, the A53 is a bit more superior. However, if you are looking for a more affordable one with almost the same features, the A33 can be an option.
