Chona, the killer pig will hit theaters in 2022 | Movies

Three decades after the television premiere of Chona, the murderous pig, its sequel will hit theaters in the summer of 2022.

Chona 2, the murderous pig, by Emmanuel “Sunshine” Logroño, took five years to produce.

“We are confident that we will continue to move Puerto Rican cinema and start the movement that the industry needs now that we are on our way to a social and economic recovery,” Logroño said in written statements.

The filming, which ended recently, took place on the Guavate stages in Cayey, Guayama, Bayamón, Loíza and San Juan.

Denise Quiñones, Aurelio “Yeyo” Lima, Marian Pabón, Yamaris Latorre, Luis Gonzaga, Camila Monclova, Giovani Vázquez and Alejandro Carpio, among others, are part of the proposal, which generated more than 200 direct and indirect jobs.

“We thank the Department of Economic Development and Commerce and its Cinema program for supporting this clearly Puerto Rican production,” added Logroño.

The plot focuses on the commission of the businessman Rodríguez & Rodríguez, played in the original film by José Miguel Agrelot (1927-2004), who wanted the pig to be bigger to have more product to sell. Some 30 years later, his son tries to fulfill his father’s dying wish.

The musicalization is by José “Cuqui” Rodríguez and the post production will take place in the Reaktor and Man-tk recording studios.
