In Choisy-le-Roi, the next municipal elections are already in the sights! This Monday evening, in the municipal council, several resignations were announced, those of four members of the majority: three deputies as well as a municipal councilor. The names and photos of Marina Brulant, Yamina Lajili and Matthias Fondeneige, respectively 4th deputy for social affairs, 7th deputy for youth, and 10th deputy for community life, were removed from the mid-term report which has just been distributed to the inhabitants. Same thing for Canan Ozcan, municipal councilor of the majority.
The announcement of their resignation was made Monday evening by Mayor LR Tonino Panetta. However, these departures come on top of the resignation last year of Hacène Habi, former security deputy, who spoke of a “toxic” atmosphere. It “is one of the three casting errors identified within our team,” replied the mayor of Choisy. Who describes these new resignations as “readjustments”, “usual at mid-term”.
The mayor evokes “a casting error”
The elected official cites “personal and family” reasons for three of them. And explains that he asked only one of these elected officials, in this case Marina Brulant, “to resign”. Here too, he mentions “a casting error”, regarding an elected official who was, he says, “blocking”.
In June, during an electrical municipal council, this assistant abstained on the vote aimed at granting functional protection to Tonino Panetta as part of a procedure pitting him against his former security assistant . “We want to leave the matter to the competent people, to the courts,” she explained at the time.
A leaflet distributed in reaction to the report
The list of elected officials therefore goes from the 3rd deputy to the 5th in the document of around fifty pages which was sent to the residents. They received another in the process: a leaflet from the Pour Better Living movement in Choisy, in which we find four current opposition elected officials as well as Matthieu Bauhain, former PCF running mate of Christian Fautré in Champigny. “The municipal election in three years must be an opportunity for democratic breathing,” announces the movement, which is already positioning itself very clearly in view of the election.
“I will be present for the Choisyennes and the Choisyens in the streets of our city listening to them as I have always done”, assures, for his part, Tonino Panetta in his mid-term report, a document of around fifty pages presented publicly this Wednesday evening. The opportunity to return to the campaign “commitments” of his team. Among them, “the exit of Siresco and the launch of the project for a new central municipal kitchen”, the “creation of a municipal police force with 29 agents”, “the installation of video protection”. Sixteen points are presented.
“For three years, nothing has changed”, consider on the contrary the members of Pour Meilleur vivre à Choisy, believing that the municipality “takes credit for all the actions of the previous team”. They speak of a “dishonest” assessment. “You sent us your findings, which we share,” they explain about the “neighborhood meetings” that were organized. Already, these opposition elected officials each present themselves as spokespersons for districts of the city and call for a “bringing together of left-wing and progressive forces”.
As a reminder, in 2020, Choisy, a city managed by the PCF for more than sixty years, had changed. Tonino Panetta, then an opposition politician, won comfortably in the second round with 55.31% of the vote against 37.52% for outgoing mayor Didier Guillaume (PCF), in alliance with environmentalist Ali Id Elouali.
