Choice of electric models – which manufacturer offers the most?

When it comes to electric cars, we usually think of the pioneer of these vehicles, Tesla, but the Californian has only four models on offer – that’s not a lot.

Tesla’s first Roadster model appeared on the assembly line in 2008, but 15 years later, the model range includes only four models: sedans Model 3 and Model S, as well as two SUVs: Model Y and Model X. And while the Cybertruck pickup is still awaited, Tesla is one of the car manufacturers with the smallest range of models, not even making it into the top twenty in this field.

But who offers the most? The statistics collected by Jato Dynamics show that the widest range of electric cars as of November 2023 is provided by the Chinese concern Geely, which has gathered Volvo, Geely, Lynk & Co, Lotus, Livan, Proton, Polestar, Radar, Jidu, Farizon, Geometry and ZEEKR under its roof , offering a total of 25 different electric vehicles worldwide. These models include 12 SUVs, 3 vans, 7 sedans, one city car, one hatchback and one sports car.

The offer of the Stellantis concern, designed for a wide range of buyers, includes 20 different electric models, while Volkswagen provides 19 with its sub-brands ID and e-tron.

These manufacturers are followed by China’s SAIC with 16 models, many of which are already available in Europe and emerging markets, General Motors offers a similar number (although many are not yet on the market), Chinese manufacturers Dongfeng and BYD have 15 and 14 models respectively, and Mercedes , BMW and Hyundai are able to compete with 11 models each.
