Choi Tae-won, chairman of the Korea Handball Association, was elected vice-chairman of the Asian Olympic Council (OCA).
The Handball Association announced on the 18th that “Chairman Choi was elected as Vice Chairman and Executive Committee member at the 39th OCA General Assembly held on the 17th in Muscat, Oman.”
Chairman Choi has held the position of Vice-Chairman overseeing sports organizations at OCA, and will oversee 90 sports alliances across Asia. Chairman Choi is the first Korean to be elected vice-chairman at OCA.
OCA is an international organization that oversees Asian sports, including selecting venues for Asian Games and hosting competitions. The National Olympic Committee (NOC) in 45 countries in Asia is a subsidiary organization. The OCA Executive Committee is the premier decision-making body drawing the big picture of Asian sports.
Chairman Choi was inaugurated as the 23rd president of the Handball Association in 2008, and has been working hard to develop handball as the 25th and 26th chairman.
