A man who claimed that Choi Jeong-won (42), a singer and actor from the group UN, and his wife had an affair were handed over to the prosecution. In addition, Mr. Choi was also in a position to be investigated by the prosecution on charges of defaming the other man in the process of clarifying the suspicion.

According to the police on the 4th, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul sent a man in his 40s without detention on charges of violating the Information and Communications Network Act, threatening, and defaming his reputation in a timely manner.

Mr. A appeared on a YouTube channel in January of this year and revealed that his wife, Mr. B, had an affair with Mr. Choi. She even released transcripts and memorandums of conversations with her wife as evidence. However, when Mr. B refuted that “her memorandum was written under her husband’s coercion,” her truth battle broke out. Choi’s side also denied her affair, saying, “I’m just her neighborhood brother who has known her family since she was young,” and filed a complaint against her in February of this year to the police. A month later, the police handed her over to the prosecution, but the prosecution requested a supplementary investigation of her, so she was sent back after further investigation.

In addition, it was confirmed that Mr. Choi, the party to the suspicion, was also handed over to the prosecution on charges of defamation against Mr. A in May. Previously, in February of this year, Mr. Choi posted a statement on his social network service (SNS), saying, “In order for the other party (Mr. A) to reflect on the actions he has committed, he must be judged by the strict law.” In response, Mr. A also sued Mr. Choi for defamation. The Seongdong Police Station, which investigated the case, initially decided not to send it to Choi as the charge was not recognized. However, due to Mr. A’s objection, the case was automatically forwarded to the prosecution. The post Mr. Choi posted five months ago has now been deleted.
