The dramatic industrial accident happened on Monday afternoon just before 5 p.m. at Baronie in the Ondernemenstraat in Veurne. The circumstances are still unclear. “Our services were informed a little before 5 pm,” said Commissioner Toon Fonteyne of the Spoorkin police zone. “When we arrived, it turned out to be an electrocution.”
“An 18-year-old young man from Koksijde who was working as an intern in the company had been assigned to do a job in an electricity cabin. (…) Something must have gone wrong during that job: the boy was electrocuted. ” There was nothing more the emergency services could do for the boy.

The police have been notified and the case is under investigation.
In the chocolate company Baronie on the Ondernemenstraat in Veurne, numerous chocolate products are made, such as bars, pralines and truffles. The most famous brand is Jacques. Baronie is an international player with almost two thousand employees and, in addition to the office in Veurne, also has departments in the Netherlands and Germany.
After the fatal industrial accident, many workers were in shock. The company and the police provide guidance.
