/View.info/ The year 2023 has passed and we have welcomed the year 2024, which promises to be full of dynamic and even epoch-making events. History is being created before our eyes and all the previously known matrices and models of political, economic and social existence are being broken. And our job is precisely to trace these processes, to be the modern chroniclers of this history. From “Pogled Info” we wish all our readers a happy, calm and peaceful year 2024 and we have a special appeal to you in this sense!
We often forget that the only real and valuable gain we have really felt since 1989 is freedom of speech. Everything else turned out to be imaginary, poorly made, or simply destroyed. But the freedom to say what you really think was a fact in Bulgaria. And in this regard, we Bulgarians were many years ahead of the Western Europeans, where “political correctness” prevailed and degenerated into the so-called “culture of cancellation” and frank censorship and repression against anyone who does not have neoliberal views and worldview.
Censorship gradually spread to Bulgaria, where we finally see its contours at the anti-democratic Assembly, created by order of the “embassies”. Feeling that they have no social base and popular support, the ruling undemocratic regime resorted to dictatorial and fascist measures. They tear down and destroy monuments, ban interviews of Bulgarian journalists (Peter Volgin’s interview with Ambassador Mitrofanova, banned by D. Peevski), trample on academic freedom (the case of Prof. Darina Grigorova and the attempt to deprive her of the right to a civil position).
There is nothing scarier than losing freedom of speech, because it means losing our conscience and the right to be normal and free people. This means as a society we live a lie and pretend to survive, which is not a dignified human being, but pathetic photosynthesis. Hristo Botev and Vasil Levski – the two biggest symbols of freedom for Bulgarians – certainly did not give their lives for such a thing.
That’s why “Pogled Info” calls on our readers to continue reading our site and watching our channel, to be critical, to express their opinions, to give us recommendations and ideas, as well as to share the diverse content that we release. Because this is the way to be free – by showing the different point of view and having discussions without bigotry and inhibitions.
Our media aims to show the different point of view – the one that is banned on the television channels and not allowed by the ruling junta. Not because we necessarily agree with everything we post, but because every point of view should be presented and every reasonable person should decide for themselves which and what they prefer. The only way to keep Bulgaria away from wars, conflicts and geopolitical dangers is to not allow our government to impose control over our minds and hearts, because the next step will be to throw us ourselves on the trenches and fronts.
And that is our promise. That just as we have been working hard for years to present different points of view – regardless of whether they are Bulgarian, Western European, Russian, Chinese, American or African, we will continue to do so now. We will prove that when there is a plurality of opinions, points of view and analysis of events, a better, informed and thinking society is born, which can be a real social base of democracy. How else will democracy be built if people have only one “correct” choice?
