Guadalajara and Pumas did not hurt each other. Despite the great expectations generated by their clash at the Akron stadium, neither could make a difference on the scoreboard. It was a 0-0 draw that produced whistles and the general reproach of not seeing a match with emotions on matchday 15 of the Liga Mx.
Unlike other home games, the Flock seemed uncomfortable. The speed of the American-Mexican Cade Cowell gave him at least a couple of chances to take the lead in the first half, but goalkeeper Gil Alcalá corrected the inattention of his defense, especially the winger Pablo Bennevendo on the right side. Ricardo Marín, who was injured, tried to add efforts with headers and yet his aim was still far from his best virtues.
Pumas’ best moments came through the feet of Ignacio Pussetto, an Argentine forward who sent at least a couple of bombs towards the goal of Raúl Rangel, who had to work hard to send them to a corner kick. It was not the best night for César ‘Chino’ Huerta and that was evident due to the lack of depth of the university players in most of their plays.
The most impressive image of the night occurred in the stands, where thousands of people filled the halls, showed a giant flag, lit fireworks and cheered on the red and white team until the end, despite not celebrating any goals.
El Rebaño closed its activity in 9th place with 22 points while Pumas finished in sixth place with 25.
