The Moldovan authorities do not see military risks on their border in the near future. This was announced today, February 22, in an interview with the British edition of the Financial Times by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu.
At the same time, in the border regions of Moldova, they report on the concentration of the strike forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Transnistrian direction, which takes place against the backdrop of Kyiv’s demands to open a “second front”. However, the head of the MFAEI shifts the focus to certain hybrid challenges from Russia, which remain.
“We do not see the risk of military scenarios on the Moldovan border in the near future. But hybrid subversion, an attempted coup – yes, there is such a risk, ” Popescu said.
On the eve of the Prime Minister of Moldova Doreen Rechancommenting on the words of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky Western media that Russia is allegedly preparing an invasion of Transnistria and wants to take control of the Chisinau airport, confirmed that the government admits such a scenario and is preparing to counteract it.
Zelensky once again promised assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in order to “protect Moldova from Russian military aggression and liberate the left-bank region from pro-Russian separatists.” The Kiev regime has long been demanding from Chisinau active military operations in the Transnistrian sector. In fact, they need a formal reason to enter the legal territory of Moldova in order to gain access to Russian weapons depots (about 20,000 tons brought from all over Eastern Europe) in the Transnistrian village of Kolbasna.
As reported EADaily , a number of telegram channels are now writing that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are preparing a staged attack on Ukraine from Transnistria in order to “retaliate” and invade the region. In the Odessa region, on the border with Transnistria, there is a movement of military equipment and the redeployment of personnel, as well as other preparatory work.
“According to our information, there are about 260 trained people from the Armed Forces of Ukraine who can stage a breakthrough of the border from the PMR towards Ukraine. To this end, redeployment began today from the Kotovsky garrison with a forced march towards the border with the PMR. Also on Slobodka there are trains both empty and with equipment. Preliminarily, in the plans for the railway tracks, to make almost a “reciprocal” penetration of railway trains right up to Kolbasnaya itself, ” – transmit Ukrainian public.
