Chip shortage still holds the car sector in its grip, low point seems to be over

Building chip factories in Europe? Intel and TSMC flirt with it

In connection with the current concerns about the chip shortage, there is a desire in Brussels to bring more chip production to Europe. Insiders in the chip industry have discussed this before expressed doubts against the NOS. The European Commission has indicated that it is taking this very seriously and also seems willing to make money available. That attitude is now leading to ‘flirts’ by chip manufacturers.

Start this month let Intel know $20 billion in investments across Europe if the manufacturer’s conditions are met. It would even have looked at locations in Germany, France and the Netherlands, among others. This week it also became clear that TSMC is also watching to mainland Europe for a factory. It could come to Germany to serve customers from the car industry, among other things.
