Gümey Korean technology giant Samsung was among those affected by the global chip crisis that forced a break in production in the automotive sector. CEO of Samsung Koh Dong-jin said the newest member of the Galaxy Note series, the Samsung Galaxy Note 21, will be difficult to launch this year.
Speaking at Samsung’s annual shareholder meeting in Seoul, Koh Dong-jin said he was grappling with “serious imbalances” in semiconductor manufacturing globally, and that they were also affected by problems with chip shortages that spread beyond the automaking industry.

Samsung’s CEO, one of the world’s largest chip and consumer electronics manufacturers, said he expected the effects of the crisis to cause bigger problems in the next quarter.
GALAXY NOTE 21 HARD ‘THIS YEAR
The new model of Galaxy Note, one of Samsung’s flagship phones due to production and supply difficulties, signaled that they could skip the introduction of this year’s Galaxy Note 21. Koh Dong-jin said:
“The Note series is positioned as a top model in our business portfolio. However, it may be cumbersome to introduce two flagship models this year. Therefore, it may be difficult to launch the new Note model in the second half of this year. ”

Koh Dong-jin, “There are serious inequalities between supply and demand. We check the parts supply problem every morning. It is difficult to say that it is 100 percent solved. After all, we will report on whether there is a business interruption.”

Samsung CEO stated that the launch timing of the new Note model could be changed, but they still plan to release a new Note model next year.
Noting that there may be delays and cancellations in the production of new models due to the chip crisis, as in Samsung’s Galaxy Note 21 example, industry experts warn, “In the worst case scenario, we will see increases in product prices in consumer electronics.”
