THIRUVANANTHAPURAM – Youth commission chairperson Chinta Jerome has been granted Rs 8.5 lakh as salary arrears following her request. Chinta’s letter to the Secretary of Sports and Youth Department demanding salary arrears has come out. The letter requested that the salary arrears for the period from October 14, 2016 to May 25, 2018 be sanctioned. Chinta claimed that she had not written the letter.

Chinta was appointed as the Chairperson of the Youth Commission in October 2016. 50,000 has been fixed as advance salary till the final decision is taken on the terms of service pay. In the month of May 2018, the salary of the Chairperson was increased to Rs. In August last year, Chinta asked the government to consider the salary from October 2016 to May 2018 as Rs 1 lakh. Although the demand was rejected twice, the finance department finally approved it.
