The reporter learned that during the nomination stage of this Hugo Award, more than 25,000 science fiction works (individuals) participated in the nomination, and a total of more than 1,800 valid nominations were received. The final selection included Best Short Story, Best Novel, and Best Drama. There are 17 Hugo Award categories including Best Performance (Short Film), Best Dramatic Performance (Feature Film), and 2 non-Hugo Award categories.
Chinese writer Hai Ming won the Best Short Novella Award for “The Painter of Time and Space”. Best short story went to “The Rabbit Test,” best novella went to “The Mystery of the Drowning Girl,” and best novel went to “Nettles and Bones.”
The Hugo Award is an annual award given by the World Science Fiction Association during the annual World Science Fiction Convention in memory of Hugo Gernsback. The award was established in 1953.
