In the past few days, the 2023 U21 Women’s Volleyball World Championships will be held in Mexico. The Chinese team in Group C played against Serbia, Poland and Argentina successively, achieved a record of 2 wins and 1 loss, and broke into the quarterfinals as the first place in the group.
The competition will start on August 17 and last for 10 days. The 16 participating teams are divided into four groups for a single round-robin competition. The top two teams in the group will advance to the quarter-finals, and the bottom two teams will qualify for the 9th to 16th place.
The Chinese team participating in this competition is led by the main attacker Zhuang Yushan. She has just participated in the completion of the Universiade and won the championship. Zhao Yalun and Shan Linqian from the Beijing Women’s Volleyball Team were also included in the squad for the World Championships.
In the first game of the group stage, the Chinese team and the Serbian team fought hard for three rounds. Due to the failure to grasp the key points, they finally lost to their opponents 0-3. In the subsequent games, the Chinese team defeated Poland and Argentina 3-0 in succession, achieving two consecutive victories. After the group stage, the Chinese team and the Serbian team ranked first by relying on the advantage of C value with 6 points, and advanced to the quarterfinals.
According to the rules, in the quarter-finals, the Chinese team will form Group E with Serbia, Japan, Mexico and other teams, and the four teams from Brazil, Italy, the United States and Turkey will form Group F, and each will play a single round-robin match within the group. The top two teams in the group will advance to the semi-finals.
According to the schedule, the next game of the Chinese team will be held at 10:00 on August 22, Beijing time, against the host Mexico.
