Chinese Women Are Banned from Promotion of Lingerie, Male Models Do It

Jakarta

There was an unusual sighting on live streaming shopping in China when the brand showcased their lingerie collection. Brand lingerie now uses a male model. Weird and funny sightings are in the spotlight.

This came after Chia imposed a rule that companies could not feature women in skimpy clothing. Companies that show advertisements or live stream using sexy female models will break the law and be punished for spreading obscene content.

The lingerie company then uses male models during live streams of online shopping. The men appeared in lingerie, even demonstrating using push up bras and corsets.

One lingerie company confusion with these rules. A number of lingerie companies inevitably use men as their models.

“We had no choice. It couldn’t be modeled by women, so you used male colleagues to be the models,” said Xu, the owner of a lingerie business who regularly broadcasts live.

Last December, Xu’s company used a male model wearing a sexy silk robe. The video got over 2,000 likes and a flood of comments making fun of the model.

“Why don’t you just let it go,” one commenter wrote.

“The guy wears it better than the girl, another netizen joked.

Live broadcast shopping in China is very popular, and businesses are benefiting greatly. According to data from McKinsey, the industry accounts for 10% of the country’s e-commerce revenue.
