Chinese swimming star Pan Ganli led his country to a thrilling gold medal in the 100-meter quadruple medley relay at the Paris Olympics.
China snatched the gold in the last 20 meters, recording 3:27.46 minutes, against the United States (3:28.01 minutes) and hosted France, which included a rising star and four-time gold medalist Leon Marchand in the breaststroke (3:28.38 minutes).
The Chinese team included Ganli, who broke the world record in the 100-meter freestyle en route to gold, Chen Haiyang, Jiayu Xu and Jiaguo Sun, while the American team included Ryan Murphy, Fink, Caeleb Dressel and Hunter Armstrong.
In addition to Marchand, the French team included Johan Ndoye-Brouard, Maxime Grosset and Florent Manaudou. Marchand, 22, competed in 14 races in Super Week, when he won four gold medals in individual races and a bronze medal.
