How far will China go to catch up and overtake the United States? The question arises and is taken very seriously by the Americans, who have unveiled, through the Pentagon, a report to Congress showing how China continues to strengthen nuclear power and very quickly. According to The Drive, in this 190-page document, the Pentagon reveals that China is developing a new generation tactical bomber, but also a strategic one, while at the same time, the number of combat aircraft continues to increase. This is without counting ships and land weapons systems and the strengthening of its conventional forces.
But what worries the United States the most are the new missile launchers capable of launching new generation ballistic missiles: the JL-3 SLBMs. The range of their predecessors, the JL-2, is not exactly known, but according to The Drive, they could operate as far as East Hawaii, between 8,000 and 9,000 kilometers. For the new ones, they could have a range of 12,000 kilometers.

Commissioned before 2025?
However, this is a problem for the United States, since it would mean that China could strike them from its lands, from the China Sea or the Gulf of Bohai, an enclave which bathes part of the northern coast of the country. Moreover, the first recorded test of the JL-3 was spotted in this famous gulf in 2018. Today, nothing indicates when China will be able to have at its disposal this type of weapons and these submarines, but reports had spoken of a commissioning for 2025.
Either way, China’s nuclear arsenal is getting stronger. For the Pentagon, “China has set up a ‘nuclear triad’ with the development of an air-launched ballistic missile, and the improvement of its land and sea nuclear capabilities.” In early summer, the Washington Post revealed that China was building hundreds of nuclear silos in a desert and two nuclear power plants would be under construction. They would allow the Middle Empire to acquire, possibly, 1,000 atomic projectiles by 2030.
