To deal with weight, experts say, people often turn to eating a lot of sugary or high-calorie food. As a result, this can lead to obesity and diabetes.

Experts conducted two experiments involving 274 volunteers. They were divided into groups of departments. In the first one, people got help from friends, in the second one, from strangers. Participants in the third group tried to motivate themselves on their own, and the fourth group was the control group.

Volunteers performed various stress-inducing activities. And after doing several tests, they were offered different dishes – both high and low in calories.

As it turned out, people from the first group (who received support from friends) ate less food, which indicates a reduction in food needs under stress.
