Chinese Stock Market Plummets, Leading to Suicides and Protests: Tragedy and Unrest on the Mainland

[New Tang Dynasty News, Beijing time, February 06, 2024]The Chinese stock market continued to plummet, and on February 5, it once again hit the limit of 1,000 shares. Stock investors were bloodbathed, and there were constant reports of stock investors committing suicide by jumping off buildings.

For several days in a row, the mainland stock market plummeted, leaving many investors bankrupt. On February 1, a netizen named “Young Liu Bang’s Reading and Study Notes” posted an article saying that his classmate and good brother in Datong jumped off the building last night (January 31).

The post said: Very reliable, a good brother with a sense of justice, a buddy who became famous at a young age and succeeded too early. He caught the bull market right after graduation in 2012. From 2014 to 2015, 150,000 principals turned into 30 million, with a management scale of 5 billion in capital. 11 years after graduation, I jumped off a building.

On February 2, news was also circulated on Snowball that a shareholder named Levi and Sixpence, who had invested in LONGi Green Energy and suffered huge losses, had committed suicide. It was also accompanied by a video of a man jumping from the roof of a high-rise building.

The circulating post of “Levi and Sixpence” states that he has lost all his money and still owes the bank 1.5 million, and his house is about to be auctioned by the bank… This cannibalistic society disgusts me… Farewell.

Against the background of widespread tragedy in the mainland stock market, this news quickly became a hot search topic on Weibo, Toutiao, and Douyin.

However, the stock investor later responded to other people’s questions on the same account and left a message “apology”, saying “it was just a joke” and “in the final analysis, I still vent my emotions and dissatisfaction.” At noon on the day he posted, he received a call from the police asking if he could not get over it.

But some netizens said: “With many people on the verge of collapse, the suicide joke is not a joke at all, it is a joke.”

At the same time, the tragedy of a female stock investor jumping off a building was reported online. Screenshots of online conversations show that a female investor lost 2 million, 15 years of savings, and was “disfigured beyond recognition” after jumping off a building.

There are also online reports that someone jumped from a building in Xi’an after losing their stock in the stock market. Some netizens also said that their uncle’s A-share friend jumped off the building.

Compared with the tragedy of jumping from a building, more stockholders have taken various forms of protest. Some stockholders delivered stools to the Shanghai Stock Exchange, some planned collective protests, and even openly shouted “rebellion”, “The whole network calls for Chen Sheng and Wu Guang”, and a large number of netizens poured into the United States. The embassy’s Weibo asked the United States to send troops to “eliminate cancer on the earth,” and a war of posting and deletion began on major social media.

Many former “pink investors” left messages apologizing to the United States, which they often abused in the past, and said that they were awakened by the iron fist of the stock market and recognized the evil of the system.

The mainland stock market continued to plummet. In January this year, protective nets were installed in Shanghai shopping malls to prevent investors from jumping off the building after losing money. Some netizens responded: Will the Huangpu River be capped tomorrow?

There is also news that four bosses of a bonded area jumped off the building. But the worst has just begun!
