This is the first time China has landed a spacecraft on a planet other than Earth.
Tianwen-1, which consists of an orbiter, lander and rover, was launched from the Wenchang Space Vehicle Launch Site on the coast of the southern Chinese island province of Hainan, on July 23, 2020.
The probe will be China’s first step in exploring planets in the solar system, with the goal of completing a orbit, landing and exploration of the Red Planet on a single mission.

Tianwen-1 entered Mars orbit in February after traveling nearly seven months in space, and spent more than two months surveying potential landing sites.
The Tianwen-1 spacecraft has been functioning normally since its launch on July 23, 2020, CNSA said on Friday (14/05/2021), adding that it entered Mars orbit on February 10, 2021 and obtained a large amount of scientific data.
