Chinese smartphone sales drop dramatically in February

As expected, February was a catastrophic month for smartphone sales in China, particularly plagued by the coronavirus epidemic. 6.34 million devices were distributed, down 54.7% from February 2019, according to Chinese government figures. February is the weakest month since 2012, the year the government started publishing these figures, reports Reuters.

IPhone deliveries reached just 494,000 units, up from 1.27 million the year before. The fall started in January has therefore grown. Apple gradually reopened more than half of its Apple Stores in China in February, but part of it remains closed. The company warned in mid-January that the coronavirus was going to have an impact on its turnover.
